Christian Russell Tryout

Christian Russell, an American Center which grew up in Salem, Oregon, left to go on a tryout with a team just outside of Valencia. Christian has been at EuroProBasket for about 5 weeks preparing himself and adjusting to the European style of basketball.

“I’ve learned from being at EuroProBasket that European basketball is much more fast paced and a lot more ball movement rather than isolation basketball.”

Christian has learned and improved a lot during his time in the program which has shown staff members and scouts at EuroProBasket that he is a good candidate for a team in Europe. There has been interest in him from teams but nothing solidified, that is until this week.

My experience at EuroProBasket has been fantastic so far. The Coaches and Trainers are amazing to work with. I have not attended any other camps or showcases but I highly recommend this one.

C-Russ as is teammates call him, will practice with his new potential club this evening. His game film from the EuroProBasket games against local teams has already been evaluated by the club. This tryout will be one of the last steps to signing with the team.

Before attending EuroProBasket, Christian Russell gained experience testing nearly every level of collegiate basketball in the United States.

His career started as a walk-on at Oregon State University, NCAA DI, in 2016, which he attended as a redshirt. The following season he transferred to Seattle Pacific University, NCAA DII.

He finished that season at Chemeketa Community College averaging 7.1 points, 4.8 rebounds while shooting 54% from two.

His last two seasons were spent at Texas Wesleyan University which competes in NAIA DII.

Best of luck to Christian in his tryout and we look forward to continue watching him improve throughout his career.
