Basketball Internships in Valencia, Spain

EuroProBasket hosts university interns year-round at our base in Valencia, Spain. Interns work alongside our coaching staff at L’Alqueria del Basket — a 13-court facility and the training home of our partners, Valencia Basket — around players from more than 25 countries. We take interns on a rolling basis rather than in fixed intakes, so start dates are agreed case by case around your university’s calendar.

Who we are looking for

We accept interns in four areas, in this order of priority:

• Basketball coaching — our main need. Students of coaching science, sports science or physical education.
• Strength and conditioning — our second priority. Students of sports science, physiotherapy or S&C.
• Marketing and communications — content, social media, email marketing, Meta ads, and coverage of our programs.
• Sports management — supporting operations, events, recruiting, coach & team network expansion and player logistics.

Past interns have come from Lithuanian Sports University, EUNEIZ, EDEM, Karel de Grote University of Applied Sciences and AMOS Sport Business School.

What the internship involves

The work depends on your field. A coaching intern can expect to:

• Attend daily practices and games with our professional coaching staff
• Assist with drills, individual workouts and small-group sessions
• Observe how professional players are prepared, scouted and presented to clubs
• Contribute to session planning and player reporting

Working language is English.

What we require

• A university agreement. Your internship must be covered by a signed agreement between your university and EuroProBasket — a convenio, learning agreement, or your institution’s equivalent. This is a legal requirement and we cannot host an internship without one. We complete and sign our part.
• Liability insurance. Your university agreement must include liability insurance covering you for the duration of the placement. If your university does not provide it, you must arrange your own liability insurance before you start.
• Enrolment at a university for the whole period of the placement.
• Conversational English, and a genuine interest in being around professional basketball every day.

What we provide, and what we do not

We provide official EuroProBasket coaching apparel. We do not provide accommodation, meals, transport or payment. These are unpaid academic placements arranged through your university, and you are responsible for funding your stay in Valencia.

Duration and hours

Placements must be at least 12 weeks, at around 30 hours per week, and we will work to whatever your course requires above that minimum.

Applying from outside the EU

We accept interns from outside the EU, but you are responsible for obtaining your own visa and any permission you need to undertake a placement in Spain. We do not sponsor or arrange visas. Because visa timelines are unpredictable, we can usually confirm placements faster for students who already have the documentation to live and study in the EU.
