Camryn Jones Commits to Play Basketball in the UK

The United Kingdom’s top division of university basketball has a new forward for 2026-27. Camryn Jones, an American forward and Florida Atlantic University neuroscience graduate, has committed to play basketball in the UK in the BUCS Premier while completing a Master of Research in Neuroscience.

A Division I Walk-On Who Earned Her Place

Camryn didn’t arrive at Florida Atlantic on a scholarship. She walked on, and from 2022 to 2024 she practiced and played with the Owls at the NCAA Division I level. A walk-on earns her spot every day in practice, against Division I size, speed and physicality.

She did it while carrying a demanding science degree. Camryn completed a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Behavior at FAU, fitting labs and exams around a Division I practice schedule. That tells a coach a lot about her discipline before she ever steps on the floor.

On the floor, she’s a forward who does her best work in the paint. She establishes position early, finishes inside and goes after every missed shot. She’s also the teammate coaches want in the gym: coachable, consistent from one session to the next, and a genuinely good person to share a locker room with.

Camryn Jones in Valencia

Camryn came to Valencia, Spain in January 2026 for EuroProBasket’s three-week Women’s Professional Program. Her four games there showed exactly what kind of player she is. In 28 minutes a night she averaged 8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3 steals and 2.75 blocks, and shot 68% inside the arc.

The number that jumps off the sheet is 3.3 offensive rebounds per game. That’s a forward who reads the miss early and turns empty possessions into second chances. At the other end, nearly three blocks a game says she protects the rim and changes shots.

The BUCS Premier: The Top Division of UK University Basketball

The BUCS Premier is the highest division of university basketball in the United Kingdom, run by British Universities & Colleges Sport and split into Premier North and Premier South. A roster spot there is earned, and it comes with a full season of games against the strongest university programs in the country.

Eight months after her three weeks in Valencia, Camryn is on a BUCS Premier roster for 2026-27.

Playing Basketball in the UK While Studying for a Master’s

Postgraduate students registered at a UK university can compete for it in BUCS competition, including the BUCS Premier. Camryn Jones, an American forward and Florida Atlantic University neuroscience graduate, is doing exactly that in 2026-27, playing BUCS Premier basketball while completing a Master of Research in Neuroscience.

For a player finishing college who isn’t done playing, her path is worth studying. One degree finished, a second one started, and a full season of competitive basketball on the other side of the Atlantic.
