Byron Richards arrived to Europrobasket in August of 2016. During his program he showed a high basketball IQ, great work ethic, professional manner and excellent character. This lead to an opportunity to sign with a 6th division team, enter CB Benicarló. Byron’s first season he lead the team to a championship moving them up a division. Throughout that season Byron made multiple appearances to local schools, promoting basketball and giving back to the local community. He took classes to learn Spanish so he could communicate with his teammates and the kids he volunteers to coach. His second season he also lead his team to a championship moving them up to the Spanish 4th division, EBA. He continued his work in the community and volunteering to coach his own team of kids as well as many camps, teaching local kids English and basketball fundamentals. His 3rd season with Benicarló, Byron helped his team to the final four in EBA and also the promotion to the Spanish 3rd division, Leb Silver or Leb Plata. This league is considered one of the more competitive leagues in the World of basketball. It gives his town prestige as they will compete against other teams from all over Spain.
Byron has made a positive impact on his team, town and the image of import basketball players in Spain.
