EuroProBasket player Joya Lemons left Valencia, Spain this past weekend to go on a tryout with a team in Porto, Portugal.
Joya Lemons is a 5’7″ Shooting Guard from Houston Texas. She played for Houston-Tillotson University NAIA from 2015 to 2019. Following her collegiate career she started working while playing for local semi pro teams in her area.
She decided that she wanted to give playing professional basketball a chance in Europe and signed up for the EuroProBasket Women’s Program in September 2023. She felt it was the best opportunity to get started playing professionally in Europe.
During her time in the EuroProBasket program Joya prepared to go on a tryout with a professional team in Europe. She practiced twice a day with other EuroProBasket players and also practiced with a Valencia Basket team for a week.
Following 3 weeks of preparation Joya was ready for a tryout with a team. The right opportunity came and she took it. She is now practicing with a team in Porto, Portugal and a contract could potentially be offered at the end of the tryout.
