Another EuroProBasket player has signed in Spain for the 2026-27 season. Kemy Lagab, a 6’4″ wing from France, will play in Tercera FEB, Conferencia D, the group covering Andalucía, Extremadura and Ceuta y Melilla.

When a basketball player signs in Spain, it is almost never because a door opened by itself. Lagab spent all of last season without a team, and he still got here.

Where he came from

He came up in France and was on the AMSB roster in the country’s second division in 2023-24. The next season he went to Germany and played 23 games for RheinStars Köln, averaging 6.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in 16.6 minutes while shooting 53% inside the arc and 38.7% from three. RheinStars are our Global ID Camp partners in Germany, so we had eyes on that season.

Then 2025-26 came and went with no team.

Players underestimate what that does to you. A year off the floor does not just cost you the year. It costs you current film, current numbers, and the recency clubs lean on when they build a roster. By this summer Lagab was harder to sign than he had been two years earlier, and none of that was about how he plays.

What he did this summer

He came to Spain for the EuroProBasket European Summer League and answered the question in four games: 12.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.8 steals in 20 minutes a night, 56.7% inside the arc, and a selection to the Round-4 all-star game.

The scoring was not the part that mattered most. It was the speed he played at. First step, transition, and a willingness to attack a set defense instead of swinging it. He is explosive off the catch, and a year away had not taken any of that.

How does a basketball player sign in Spain after a season without a team?

By producing in games that get watched. Lagab’s route was the European Summer League in the summer of 2026: four games, 12.8 points a night, an all-star selection, and current film in front of coaches and agents while Spanish rosters were still open. He signed a little over two months later.

What he is walking into

Spain is one of the hardest countries in Europe to earn a roster spot in, because the domestic pool is enormous and Spanish players are inside the federation system from childhood. Tercera FEB spots are contested. Earning one from outside is a real result.

It is also a system that moves in one direction if you produce. Conferencia D is where he starts, and the rest of the FEB structure sits directly above it.
