Small Forward Sebastian Nilsson Signs for 2025-26 Season Following Euro Professional Program

EuroProBasket Swedish Small Forward Sebastian Nilsson has officially signed with a team in Valencia, Spain, for the 2025-26 season. Following a rigorous stint in the Euro Professional Program from September to October 2025, Sebastian demonstrated the maturity and skill set required to secure a roster spot in one of Europe’s most competitive basketball hubs.

A Foundation of Success

At just 18 years old, Sebastian arrived with a resume full of accolades. During his five years with Alvik Basket in Stockholm, he was instrumental in winning Gold at the Göteborg Cup and the Lampe Cup in 2022. He later transitioned to Spanish basketball with the Valencia Academy Junior B team, where his high basketball IQ and leadership earned him MVP honors in multiple league games.

Despite this strong background, Sebastian notes that the transition to the senior level required a new level of focus. “The biggest adjustment was not only on the court, but also off the court,” Sebastian explains. “Moving abroad and living alone in a new country with a new language was a big step, and it forced me to mature quickly.”

Refining the Game at EuroProBasket

Sebastian joined the Euro Professional Program to bridge the gap between junior and senior basketball. He utilized the program to adapt to the speed of the professional game. “The pace and physicality at EuroPro were higher than what I was used to before,” he admits. “Players were stronger, faster, and more experienced, so you had to think and react quickly.”

Standing 6’1″ (184 cm), Sebastian is known for his defensive awareness and reliable shooting. However, the EuroProBasket coaching staff pushed him to expand his mental game. “The coaches helped me use my basketball IQ more actively by giving me more responsibility and encouraging me to lead with energy,” Sebastian says. “They pushed me to be more vocal, organize the team, and bring intensity to every possession, which helped turn leadership into real impact on the floor.”

Looking to the Future

Now settled in Valencia, a city he praises for its “strong basketball culture,” Sebastian is focused on the long game. His immediate goal is to earn his role through defense and energy, but his vision is set on the next decade. “In five years, I see myself playing at a higher professional level and being an important part of a competitive team,” he states.

For other young players considering the EuroProBasket route, Sebastian offers clear advice: “Be ready to fully commit. You will train more, play at a faster pace, and be challenged every day… If you stay focused, work hard, and trust the process, it can really help you take the next step.”
