Women’s Basketball in Spain: Daeja Quick Signs for the 2026-27 Season

Another EuroProBasket guard has signed in Spain for the 2026-27 season. Daeja Quick earned the look in January. The offer came in July, and the six months in between say more about women’s basketball in Spain than any highlight reel does.

From the D2 Record Books to Mexico

Quick is a 5’5″ American combo guard who has produced at every stop. At the University of the District of Columbia she was named 2018 East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year, starting 26 of 28 games and averaging 16 points.

At Slippery Rock University she set a 2022 national record for most minutes played and finished 12th in school history in both minutes and assists — a guard who never wanted to come off the floor, and once played through a bad ankle rather than sit.

Her first season overseas came with Vaqueras in Mexico’s Liga de Basquetbol del Norte in the fall of 2023, where she adapted from point guard to shooting guard and was the only American of three on the roster who wasn’t cut. Then she pointed herself at Europe.

January in Valencia

Quick joined the Women’s Professional Program in January 2026, timed to the second signing period, the mid-season window when European teams replace players and fill roster gaps.

She trained daily in Valencia and competed in EuroProBasket games against European talent, coached by FIBA-certified European coaches. The physicality caught her off guard first — contact that would draw a whistle in the States kept play moving in Spain. “It challenged me to adjust my mindset and realize I had to be just as physical, composed, and persistent to compete at that level,” Quick said.

She did the work. The offer didn’t come. Not in January, not in February. She kept training through the DMV that spring, playing semi-pro with Chocolate City Soul to stay sharp and ready.

What Happens When You Don’t Sign Right Away?

Your film doesn’t expire, and neither does the work behind it. Our staff kept Quick’s EuroProBasket film moving through the spring, sending it to coaches and clubs alongside other players from her program still waiting on an offer.

“With a program like EuroProBasket, you also have to be patient and trust the coaches you meet along the way,” Quick said. “They are building relationships, networking, and working behind the scenes to help create opportunities for players.”

In July 2026, a club in Spain made the offer, and she signed ahead of the 2026-27 season. We take no commissions and place nobody — the player earns the contract.
