Borja grew up in Valencia, where Europrobasket is located. During his adolescent years he played with Valencia Basket and the Spanish National Team in the U14, U15 and U16 categories. He later moved to the USA to play in Barstow Community College for his Freshman and Sophomore seasons from 2016-2018. He improved greatly his sophomore year and received an offer from Trinity Western University in the Canadian USports. He played there for the 2018-19 season. After returning home and competing in the Liga Eba, he got in contact with Europrobasket. He was offered to multiple openings in which a team in the Liga Eba, Andalucía offered him a contract.
